Walt Disney Consumer Products division recently hired Event Lab. A Pirates of the Caribbean theme was designed to welcome the Target corporate buyers to Disney's new offices in downtown Minneapolis.

BAM! . . . Taking your events up a notch

If you want to have a great looking party, just follow the clothing industry. All the hot trends in ladies fashion come to play when designing an event. All the hot trends in fashion play out in events whether it is on the top of the table, the color of the room or accessories that accent the decor. Consider the new colors for fall - metallics. Gold, pewter, platinum and copper all have their place in this season's events. Keep the linen, chair cover and flowers all in the same shades creating a monochromatic look, and the room looks grounded, warm and inviting. Add lots of chunky candles at varying heights adorned with lots of jewelry and the tabletop will be the talk of the event.

The same jewelry that is at every fashion retailer can be used to accent the table. Use jeweled broaches on the napkins or on the chair ties; long necklaces of beads and chains can drape around the base of the centerpiece. By adding these little sparkly details to a monochromatic room you will add a bit of whimsy, fun and make every table a little bit different.

So, the jewelry just doesn't quite make it for that group of men you have to entertain? Try using different shapes of tables - not just all rounds. Use squares and even serpentines to mix up the room with a bit of geometry. Men enjoy simplicity so make the tables sleek and contemporary with steel gray and cool blue tones. Centerpieces should be simple - river rock and candles on a weighted tray or even an arrangement of one type of flower works well. The important part is that the decor does not overwhelm the conversation, where with women, the decor is the conversation.
